AITool comparisons
Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini: which one for what?
We compared the three big AI assistants without scores, by where each one stands out in everyday business work. Last checked October 2026.
All three do the same basic job: they understand what you type, reply in writing, read files and can search the web. All three have a free plan and a phone app. The differences are in where each one stands out. We don't score them here, because the answer depends on the work you do.

Claude
Anthropic's assistant.
- Where it stands out: writing and long documents. It writes in a natural voice and adapts well to the style you give it; it's strong at reading a long report, a contract or several documents together and pulling them into shape.
- Code: widely used by software developers; it also has a version that works with the files on your computer.
- Where it falls short: it doesn't create images. It can read and interpret images, but doesn't generate photos or illustrations.
ChatGPT
OpenAI's assistant, and the most widely used.
- Where it stands out: versatility. It offers writing, image generation, voice conversation and file analysis together in one place.
- Images: it creates and edits images inside the chat; handy when you need a quick visual for social media or a presentation.
- Voice: its voice mode is well developed for people who prefer to talk.
Gemini
Google's assistant.
- Where it stands out: its connection to Google. If you use Gmail, Google Drive, Docs and Calendar, it works inside or alongside those services.
- Images and video: it generates images and is strong at reading different kinds of content such as photos, video and audio.
- Research: its research feature, which scans a topic in depth on the web and prepares a sourced report, stands out.
Which one for which job?
- Proposals, emails, marketing copy, reading long documents: Claude.
- When you need a quick image along with the text: ChatGPT or Gemini.
- If your work runs on Gmail and Google Drive: Gemini.
- If you'd rather talk than type: ChatGPT.
How to choose
The best way is to try. Give all three the same request for a task you do every week (an email, a product description, a document summary) and put the results side by side. Whichever you keep returning to after a week is your answer. We cover how to write that request in how to write a good prompt.
